Didn't technically happen today but thought I would share. Becareful with CAIs. Hydrolock $ux. Make sure you drain your Intercooler if this happens to you.

@Ealvarez11 there was no way for you to avoid that road? How deep was that area you drove through?

Damnnnn that sucks. I was driving through super heavy rain the other day without my front bumper on, ended up getting some water on the MAF sensor and throwing the car into limp mode, even with a hydro shield. Thought I blew the motor but all was well once I pulled over and dried the MAF out. Knock control got up to 1.3... but came back down eventually. What exactly happened here? Full hydrolock? Safe to say I'm gonna be extra careful in the rain now lol

I was stopped at a 4-way intersection and rain started pouring hard. The intersection is the low spot on the road and water just started flowing hard. Water was only up to splitter but when I tried to move it pushed enough water into my intake and immediately hydrolocked. A neighbor helped me push it out of the intersection. Wrong place at the wrong time. FML. My wife and daughter passed by me on their way to school and wondered why I was sitting in the middle of the intersection.

Some photos of the water that got sucked up and position of the CAI. The intersection is definitely the lowest spot because all the street drains are installed on the left and right of the road I was traveling on. One block from home. FML.

I wonder if this is even a risk with the 27Won CAI, given that the filter is still basically in the original position and the cold air is taken in from the wheel well. I would say there is potential for vacuum but the airbox cover has the 27Won W logo carved through to prevent that.

The 27Won intake is a safer solution. Like you point out, at slow speed it breaks vacuum with the logo cutout. Smart design.

That's one reason that I went with the 27Won CAI, the other being how much easier it is to access the air filter to clean it.

No doubt. I went with prl because I wanted the prl titanium inlet pipe.
