Got new wheels and tires to try out at the track. Went with Motegi MR 145 18x9.5 +45 wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R's (275/35R18). I was going to go with 265's but the 275's were quite a bit cheaper..
I am not lowered and have Hardrace lower camber plates upfront with camber set at -2.7 so I suspect the front should be fine. I may have to tuck in the front tab if it does rub. Not sure about the rears yet. I am prepared to switch to 265's in the rear if I do encounter rubbing and then use those 275's as spares for the front. I will post if I encounter any rubbing with this set up.
Gotta say the tire traction felt like glue even on the drive home.

I think in the case of whether a 18x8.5 +35 or 18x9.5 +45 might rub the issue comes down to the overall width of the tire that you put on the rim and whether you are lowered or not (changing factory camber also will effect this). Some tires like those that are more track focused just have a wider tread or cross section than others even with the same tire width stamp (ie 245, 255, 265, etc). To get an idea as to where your tire type might stand in relation to other tires you can look at the specs tab under each tire if listed at Tire Rack.

Wow!! So it HAS been done!! That's nice man...congrats. Super-clean setup. I hope you don't rub at all, cause that looks really good, especially without touching the suspension height.

+45, 18", 9.5. For those asking, there is your answer. =)

Thanks Bax.

Now I just need to get some miles on her and try it out at the track to see if there is any rubbing. I will report back if I run into any issues. Expect to see the track in mid September.

Sweet. That sounds like fun!

Yeah, please report back whenever you can. Some people come to these forums without actually being members, so it would be good information for everyone who checks up on this thread.

My gut is telling me that you're going to be fine.

You still looked slightly tucked in under the fenders. I'm sure if you look at your fenders from top down, you wont see the top of the tire sticking out from the fender. Your setup is almost where my wheels and tires are on my car. With our stiff suspension, I hightly doubt you'll rub.

Again, congrats. Such a meaty look...I freakin' love it!

Forgot to mention the center caps on these wheels are aluminum so you don’t need to worry about pulling them off for track days like plastic ones which could melt.

They say these are for BMW's, but wouldn't they be fine on the Type R?

45mm, which would be great, however, I was just informed that it will not fit on a Type R because of the center bore size. I didn't even know there was a "center bore size" to be concerned about. What a disappointment. I REALLY liked these wheels, and they were the one option I really wanted after a week of searching every possible site for something cool, and affordable. :(

The center bore on BMWs is 72.6 mm. The Type R has 64.1 mm bore.
Why couldn't you use a 72.6->64.1 centering ring?

You should also make sure that these wheels will clear the front brakes on the Honda. Some don't.

Correct, the center bore is an easy fix. The issue is if the wheels have enough clearance for the massive brembos on the front. A lot of wheels require spacers.

You also might want to check the weight on the Beyern rims... If I remember right they are on the heavier side.
