After reviewing a few threads... I am considering the Morimoto Elite HID Kit for my 2018 HB.
Does anyone have any pics to show the 5500k on this model/trim?

Any experiences in regards to rain or having issues with oncoming car/cops and flickering?

Also, It comes in two options: xB35 or xB55 Ballast. What is the main difference or should I consider?

Thanks~

5500k seems to be the sweet spot with matching the drls. When I ordered mine, I accidentally ordered 4500k, I’m too lazy to ship them back so I just installed. A few of us are having weird issues with one ballast not turning on, gotta turn off the lights, turn back on, and then it turns on. To me.. it’s still a solid quality HID setup. Only other thing I would do differently is retro fit, but that’s down the road. Go with the 35, 55 is just too hot in my opinion.

Got any night and day pics to show?

Have you had any issues as far as oncoming traffic flashing you or pulled over for the lights?

That’s a no to both. Lol. You won’t have any issues getting pulled over, been using HIDs for the past 13 years.

I love the Morimoto 5500! I choose the white and with the factory projectors; they are functional.

I didn’t use a relay and my ballast are the Hylux 35 watt.

Haven’t been flashed and the police here (Winnipeg, Mb, Can) haven’t pulled me over.

I have them and it's a huge improvement I'd go with xb35 for reliability and not sure if stock protectors can handle higher wattage beacuse the heat it produces, ive been flashed before but its really where i live, there's lots of hills and slopes so if a driver happen to hit my cut off while i am going up on a slope it may produce a good amount of glare, no way to avoid this unless we have matrix headlights like audi.

I, too am rocking xB35, relay harness, and 5500K morimoto kit in stock projectors.

Color match is pretty damn close to the OEM DRLs

Light output is leagues better than shitty OEM halogens

Decent side cutoff

cutoff is nearly identical to stock halogens -- no issues blinding people, no flashes from oncoming drivers, no hassle from police. Picture is probably 10-15 yards from the wall

Had the car for less than a month before I decided that I wanted HIDs in this car (ran with a retrofit on my 2002 civic for 13 years before getting my 2018) and haven't looked back. No issues with flickering. Only issue I've had was the driver's side very intermittently failing to fire. I've contacted TRS about the issue, and I'm still yet to switch ballasts to see if the problem follows the ballast or bulb. Otherwise, couldn't be happier with my decision to go back to HIDs. Make sure you go with the H11B bulbs, not the H11A like TRS says is for our cars. I'm definitely looking at the retroquick kit later down the road, but next on my list is either KTuner or suspension.

Looking to pick up this setup in the near future. I saw an install post a while ago of a user mounting the ballasts above the wheel well in that dead space in the engine bay with extensions. Was wondering where everyone else has been mounting theirs to get an idea of where to mount mine.

Pretty much where I mounted mine. If you buy the Morimoto Elite kit with relay harness, they include extensions so everything can reach. Well, at least they did for my kit.

pay no attention to the red arrow. It was for another thread where I asked what that box was. I ended up mounting my relays (pictured mounted on top of the fuse box cover in this pic) on that little box with double sided mounting tape. Also, with the ballasts there, I can tell you that if you decide to buy those UKDM-style (or genuine UKDM) engine bay side covers, they'll clear the ballasts mounted there with zero issues.

edit: found a pic of my engine bay with the side covers. Cleans it up and hides everything nicely

Can't wait for mine to get here this week.

I threw in some LED's knowing better that I should go HID... Figured I'd give 'em a shot and they sucked pretty bad. So they're headed back for a refund as soon as the HID's get here.
