Kudos to you guys changing your oil without a lift.

I used to change my oil on my integra. Then I got a TSX and the plastic protector was a PITA to take off that I said screw it and took it to my mechanic to do it. Was just not worth my time.

I'm pretty certain crush/nylon washers for oil drain plugs have been around on most vehicles for a long while. They should be replaced when changing the oil.
Welp I come from Mustangs and we didn't have to replace the washer on them every oil change... The were reusable so seeing the words "put a NEW washer" set me back a bit to ask about it. I would rather ask then get into it and be like oh shit I need a new washer while my car is up in the air and not drivable. haha That would suck to say the least. haha

So is it true these are not reusable and I need to pick one up? Thanks in advance for answering.

Must replace the washer else you’ll spring a leak. They’re only used once. It’s pennies.

I Agree - kudos.

I went to the Honda dealership and got my first change for free. Second one (A1 service oil change and tire rotation) for $80 just 2 days ago. I also don't have a private garage since I live in an apartment building.

This car is super easy to do oil changes. Both the oil filter and drain plug are located in easy to access places. Belly pan comes off rather quickly too. No lift required. Just a floorjack and some jack stands.

Nice write up. I change my oil every 3k miles with Mobil 1 fully synthetic oil. I also have a Fumoto oil drain valve installed so I don’t have to retorque the oil drain bolt every time and risk damaging the aluminum threads on the oil pan. I try to avoid mechanics by all means because most of them are just doing it for the money and can care less about the customers car.

You are supposed to replace the washer every time. However, I never replaced it on my old civic and it never leaked. Back then I didn't know it was supposed to be replaced. I replace it every time now. They are cheap.

Do most change their filter at every oil change or every other?

hey guys, I have R-11881 here in the US and want to do an oil change... I'm having a hard time with the filter and SPECIALLY the washer on the drain plug, what are the part numbers for both? oil filter and washer? do they come together? if I buy 15400-PLM-A02 will it have a washer?

Yes, they’re normally sold with the washer packaged in or included.

Any info about transmission fluid change?

Fill bolt is on top under intake box. Is there a check fluid level bolt?

Torque specs for the transmission drain/fill?

A lot of the information I read is from the SI forum.
