The tune doesn't increase part throttle MPG's but it keeps them close to stock. It all depends on how and where you drive. If you do mostly highway your MPG will be high. The more city driving you do, the more MPG's drop big time.

Great write up and review. So if you could do it all over again, stick to hondata or go KTuner?

I'm still debating on both.

I'm still debating on both.
On manual transmission cars, it's a toss up. For the CVT, Ktuner offers easy driveability adjustments for part throttle response and early spool and faster boost ramp. Those make day to day driving better.

Don't get me wrong, Hondata's +6 tune runs very well in the CVT. It's a nice bump over stock. Most people will love the tune. But, based on the fact you can easily fine tune your driveability options with Ktuner, it may be an even better choice with the CVT at this time. Of course, we're really lucky to have two top notch ECU tuners offering their products for the 10th gen.

I’m just hoping that Hondata will bless us CVT owners with some updates and improvements soon. Not only would it make them more competitive, it would make a ton of CVT Flashpro owners happy, me included :)

Where this tune shines is on the highway. Thankfully a good portion of my driving is on the highway.

If you put your foot into it at lower speeds like in city driving, Hondata definitely didn't program it to scoot. The factory lag is still present, no improvement at all. That's my main gripe with the tune. At highway speeds though, this car feels just about perfect. It's a very confident feeling knowing you can pass other cars with ease and power out of most situations. A lot more confidence inspiring than the stock tune.

Here's a real world example of the difference between the stock tune and the Hondata +6 on the highway. Today I was driving home and doing about 68mph. Up ahead by about 100 yards or so were two trucks in my lane doing maybe 75mph. My exit was 1/2 mile away. I wanted to do a little test of my passing power. So, I sped up to about 80mph and caught up to the trucks. Now, my exit was maybe 1/4 mile away. With the stock tune, I don't think I'd have enough ooomph to pass the two trucks in time to make my exit. With the +6 tune, I put my foot into it and passed the trucks like they were standing still. Made the exit with plenty to spare and quickly slowed down. The tuned car has much more power in the 70-100mph range. Matter of fact, it's shocking how quickly it will hit 100mph before you even realize it.

I'm tempted to get the CARB flasher based on your post, but I realized when I downloaded the software that the CARB profiles lack the option to automatically start the car with Sport Mode On. The only reason I mention this is because I [really] like the red tachometer interface created by Sport Mode.

I know you're not able to share much with us, and I'm hoping Hondata might step in to comment, but is there a way, or are they planning to provide the option for the CARB profiles?

That would be more of a question for Hondata to answer. Hopefully, they will be updating the CARB tunes for both CVT and manual owners.

Haha, I figured so. Maybe it's better off this way because I realized that when Sports Mode is on, I try to race invisible drivers at stop lights...will only enable it on highways to save my wallet from myself.

Hey there!

I finally took the leap and bought a hondata flash pro after thinking about it for a while and I am super excited to install it.

Reading through this thread has been quite helpful and informative so I just wanted to thank you guys for that!

One question I have that I can't seem to find the answer to: when you install the mod so that the econ mode is your stock (or near stock from what I've read) and you turn it off to get the hondata tune, do you drive it in sport mode as well? Or do you just turn off econ mode and drive it on the normal setting. I own a 2017 ex-t hatchback (cvt) and It has four states: econ mode normal/sport and non econ mode normal/sport... I was just wondering how that works. Do you only get the tune on sport?

Pressing Econ gives you basically the stock Econ tune. With Econ off, you have your Hondata tune. It's independent of whether it's in S or not. Those are transmission settings that have nothing to do directly with the ECU tune.

Hey @gtman, do you have any 0-60 times for the +6 basemap tune? I can't seem to find a forum with people posting 0-60 times with their Hondata tune.

I've seen people mention anywhere from the high 5 second to mid 6 second range on some testimonials over at hondata.com.

Are you still contemplating Ktuner or will you stick with Hondata?

For now, I'm sticking with Hondata. I like the tune I did. A lot. I just wish Hondata would think about giving us CVT owners some new tweaks.

The highest mpg I got in my MT EXT was around 39 mpg. Just installed a flowmaster DBX with muffler delete yesterday. Checked my mpg when I arrived to work this morning and it was 46.6 mpg. The low rumble sounds awesome and the mpg's really surprised me.
