That or the badges were damaged in raw material shipping or out on the assembly floor which is very common. Then they were replaced later.

I honestly highly doubt Honda is invested enough in these numbers to go that far. I'd say once it leaves the factory that number probably isn't coming back.

Possible, but Auto manufactures fixing vehicles at port is a common practice; I know of it for sure on several brands.

Interesting... my serial number was added (3757) but as a 2017. I've also noticed the other serial that was below 6000 (5469) changed from 2018 to 2017. I guess the site admins are automatically assuming less than 6000 is 2017 and anything above 6000 is a 2018. I'm still trying to figure out why I have a low number 2018 (less than 6000)....

I just noticed that my car was already added, but as a 2018. My VIN is an H and it was registered as a 2017 (even if it was built the first week of December!). I think UK cars will switch to 2018 VIN with the ones built in January. Who should I contact to fix this?

Wow, that different. You might have the highest serial # '17 of the bunch.

It sounds like the assembler just grabs badges out of a parts bin, just like shift knobs, and installs them. It's a "thing" to them - perhaps even a cruel one.
Haven't yet heard anyone claiming Badge 20, 69, 295, 306, 316, 666, 2017, 2018..., they're likely mounted on someone's "trophy shelf"!

I agree...it does seem that way even though you do see patches of colors together on the registry.
Not sure why you listed #306 but is appears to have checked in on the list.

Dont have instragram and was never on ebay or cars.com i bought it before it landed at the dealer. Maybe he scavenged this site?
