I found this on eBay it's a great comparison between the standard and Si/CR-V turbo.
Stock Civic Turbo (on the left):
CRV/Si Turbo (on the right):
- Compressor Wheel - Split 6 Blade with 39.1mm Inducer and 46.0mm Exducer
- Turbine Wheel - 11 Blade with 37.1mm Inducer and 32.3mm Exducer
- OEM P/N 18900-5AA-A01
- MHI P/N 49373-07011
The TD025 turbo is used for the 1.5 turbo engine. The CRV/Si engine uses a 1 MM larger, 9 blade turbine
- Compressor Wheel - Split 6 Blade with 39.1mm Inducer and 46.0mm Exducer
- Turbine Wheel - 9 blade with 37.1mm Inducer and 33.3mm Exducer
- OEM P/N 18900-5PA-A01
- MHI P/N 49373-07100
which reduces exhaust back pressure allowing it to make more HP at a higher RPM.
Guess what this is? Read your title, then look at the graph.
This is why I have been looking for an Si turbocharger. I don't have to compromise on power because there are gains on both the lowend AND the topend. And the topend doesn't fall off like the non-Si. This is why I don't want a 27Won or PRL. They are a compromise with a larger gain up top with large losses on the bottom. I'll have gains everywhere. An no losses! No compromises! For 1/4th the price of new 27Won.
This is all for now. I just like to throw out teasers.
Computed horsepower from Civic Si 10.3 compression ratio going to 10.6 compresion ratio goes up from 205hp to 207hp (a 1% change). From HERE!Differences between the Si and Non-Si level trims, from the Honda Civic Si wikipedia page:
- engine output increased to 205 HP @ 5,700 RPM (SAE net) and 192 lb-ft torque @ 2,100-5,000 RPM (SAE net)
- higher maximum boost pressure (20.3 vs. 16.5 PSI)
- lower compression ratio (10.3:1 vs. 10.6:1)
- higher-capacity MHI TD025 turbocharger (9-vane vs. 11-vane)
So.....since the Si already is running higher boost than my car stock and the larger turbo, raising my boost pressure with the Si turbo should get me to 207hp with no other changes.
So, I am going to guesstimate going from 174hp to 207hp after raising my boost and adding the Si turbocharger, we should be around +33hp
^^Just doing my homework and playing with numbers to see if things make sense and are matching up. Funny this is right in line with the Dyno number delta difference of +32hp. Nothing to see here folks. Carry on! Just posting this so I can reference it for later.
