High Output Alternator

Hey guys,

I'm looking to throw an HO alternator in the FK8 here, but I cannot figure out how to access it.

I've asked honda for schematics nothing back yet.

I took a few screenshots from the service manual that I found on the forum (https://www.civicx.com/forum/thread...c1-fc2-fc3-fc4-fk4-fk7-fk8.46297/post-1034824). Looks like it involves taking off a few other parts, maybe.

Splash guard, by the fuel line, take the tire off, or lift the whole engine?

I can’t say I know, but I’m sorta getting the vibes that getting at it from beneath (through the lower engine shield area) might be the preferred way. I think that’s why an exhaust pipe removal is mentioned in the service manual.

But maybe someone else who’s done the job can comment more accurately. Just wanted to pass along the information I had.

Disconnect battery, remove undercover, remove belt, remove front pipe, remove torque rod, disconnect connectors/cable, remove alternator from opening between front subframe and intermediate shaft. Install parts in reverse order. Per Honda repair procedure.

Fyi DC Alternators has a 270 amp HO alternator for us available. I spoke to them today and they just need the alternator pulley diameter measurement using a caliper from the top of the rib to get the ratio correct to make one.
