In cold weather, I usually wait for the RPM to drop (usually a minutes) and then start to drive away slowly. Driving slowly will speed up the warmup process.Thats the best way to warm up. I usually let it sit for about 1 min when it's below 0F.
Sitting for extended periods of time when cold isn't the best for your engine.
If I have snow to remove, the car will idle for a few minutes.
