we have confirmation that it was a manufacturing process flaw - causing all the faux cf replacement exterior trim pieces (lip, side skirts, and rear diffuser) to become "gloss" and not as textured as the original ones that came with the 2017 and 2018 cars. unfortunately, 2019 cars are coming with these less textured parts causing people to think honda changed or updated the parts. that's not true - 2019s are simply coming with the "wrongly" produce faux cf trims. some may like that and no big deal. it's when you need to replace damaged trim pieces or for any reason you'll run into mismatching.
there was a flaw in the mfg process which we've confirmed and documented in this fb post. 15,000 units were produced incorrectly and were not caught in time so are now in the field (dealer parts inventory) for replacements.

summary: if you order a replacement faux cf trim piece, you likely will receive the too glossy one that will not match your oem 2017 or 2018 trim piece. part numbers are exactly the same.
your options:

your options:
- return and reorder repetitively hoping to get a matching textured one, or
- live with the non matching replacement piece, or
- wait until the next production run of replacement pieces once honda has hit a minimum par level of replacement trim pieces inventory and produce them the right way
