Hi guys, I purchased a front strut bar for my Civic Hatch but I came across two different methods of mounting it and want a better clarification as to why?

I see the debate between not having your wheels on the ground vs keeping them on the ground when mounting the bar.

I would prefer to not jack up my car to get the wheels off the ground to save some time but are there any actual benefits for doing this method vs leaving the car on the ground?

Haven't heard of this either. Did mine on the ground. Install videos were all on the ground.

While its not specific to our Civics, there’s video like this and other forums that suggest doing so

I added a Tanabe Front Strut Bar to my Civic Hatchback without jacking up the car and it mounts fine.

Some first impressions with this Strut Bar, definitely makes entering driveways less bouncy. With some spirited, unofficial slalom test, it seems to reduce the front end body roll a bit (running Federal 595RS-RR tires). As for high speed driving, going over smaller imperfections do not seem to cause the car to react as much.

There is an argument to be made for jacking up the wheels when installing a strut bar to ensure even distribution of force. Having said that, I would not be all that concerned on the 10th gen given how stiff the chassis is. I would just make sure its flat level ground for the install

Installed mine while the car was on flag level ground. No issues.

Any reason you went with this strut instead of the one designed for yours?
I was thinking about doing the same because I wanted to get the type r rep engine cover.

Any problems installing over the strut plates on your hatchback? I’ve seen other threads where washers had to be used as spacers (sirimoto strut bar I think it was though) Some installs say to remove the strut plates before installation .. but, I feel the plates are there for more metal support

I don't recall having that issue when installing the bar.

It was the only available strut at that time. Can add engine cover without issues
