You don’t want to upgrade the rear without upgrading the front.

I am half way done with my rear big brake upgrade. Designed custom cast iron rotors and had them made already and test fitted. They are 305mm diamter x 11mm thick. Same as oem civic type r. Stock Fk7 is 260mm x 9mm. My rotors fit the bolt pattern and hub of all non Type R 10th gen and 11th gen civic. The Type R caliper bracket will not work because the rear hubs are different and the caliper bracket mounting holes are in a different spot. I am in the process of making a custom cast iron caliper bracket. Will update when the prototypes are done. My rotor and oem for comparison

I have 25mm in the back and rim is pretty flush. I think minimum is 10-15mm required for bolt heads. It will be okay.

Ctr already has wider wheel base. it could be an option for some if it bolts on. I dont want my wheels pushed out. Don't know if the trailing arms are different / longer. Knuckle is definitely different though.

Ctr knuckle below

Until someone finds out if CRV works, I still think just swapping caliper bracket and rotor for custom setup is the most straight forward approach to getting CTR size brakes on FK7

Not true. Type R rear brakes are not aluminum. They are the exact same caliper painted red with different bracket for larger rotors. I bought them. Type r rotor does not fit fk7 for several reasons. "Updating" rotors to stoptech does nothing if they are not larger. Stainless lines just stiffen brake pedal do not upgrade brakes. I have used these in the past. Race grade brake fluid I am assuming you mean dot 4 vs oem dot 3 just has a higher boiling point than oem. True pads will upgrade but they dust like crazy and wear out fast I have used hawk pads in my nsx calipers back in the day.

If your statement was true at all then why would the engineers at honda use a larger rotor on the Type R than on the FK7?

Don't understand why you felt the need to post this.
Ok well I'll go back to the post I had from Thusee because I swear he said they were aluminum, but as you have tried them I will defer to your knowledge. I've ordered some but they have not friggin' arrived yet.

Here is the post where Thusee clearly says they are aluminum:

#348

UPDATE: Nov 14th [ I just took delivery of Type R rear brakes and what PSPEC indicated seems true, the caliper is painted red but is ferromagnetic, strongly holding some neodymium magnets, which would seem to confirm the brakes are NOT aluminum. Also they are heavy... ]

I felt the need to post what I did because I had a certain understanding or viewpoint of the situation, and it felt reasonable to discuss it, and if I am wrong, then I am wrong, and your post was kind enough to provide some enlightening information rather than just... Bro You Suck... which I appreciate that you took the time to do! cheers

Also: why a larger brake on the FK8 vs FC1 Si

because it weighs more?

Curb weigh TYpe R: 3117
Curb weight Si ... 2905

Looks like the knuckle pushes the hub unit out further on the type r knuckle. I saw crv rear calipers go for like 70 a piece on eBay. Rotor and pad kit for 70 too for test fit of anyone wants to do some testing

I haven't looked at this thread for a while- PSPEC, are you planning to sell the rear kit when you have it finished? Definitely interested.

Rage wheels makes custom rear brake rotors. I think the max you can fit at the rear is 320-330mm. You'll have to make use of type R rear brackets to clear the large rotors or modify your stock brake brackets. You'll also need to modify the rear abs cable that controls the e-brake. The cable is long enough, you just need to remove some slack from the harness to accommodate the larger rear rotor. I am planning on it. Will be a traditional cast iron rotor that is CTR size. 305mm x 11mm. Will use oem caliper, pads, and the bracket will be cast iron but look like oem.
