Getting my Enkei TS5 wheels put on next week. Just curious on the difference/ functionality on closed vs open lug set? Love to hear preferences. Thanks.

Unless you run extended studs. No real reason for open.

I have the Circuit Performance lugs. They worked great when I ran Motegi wheels in the winter. I now use them with my Superspeed wheels. I prefer closed. With open-ended, you get water inside and have to be good about getting it out.

Note, the FK8 is 14x1.5.

Most times, open lugs are used for extended studs, where the lug needs to be able to clear the end of the stud to properly secure the wheel to the hub. Outside of that, its really just preference.

Open lugs can get water and other debris inside of it, making it a pain in the ass to loosen them if you dont take your wheels off for long periods of time.

With that being said, ive been running the Project Kics Monolith open ended lug nuts for a couple of years now without problems. Theyre forged steel. I take my wheels off frequently though when swapping for my track wheels and I dont use my car in the winter so im not worried about salt and sand. My track lug nuts are just regular Monster Lugs, those ones I dont feel bad about hitting with an impact to get them on and off.

I love the look of my neo chrome. I'll have to snap some pics.
