So I got my first ever speeding ticket and first ticket ever, been driving since 18...now 26.

Speeding 75km/h on a 60km/h road. No demerit points for offence.

What's the best option to approach this ticket? Is it worth going to court for this?

And I already pay a heavy premium per month on insurance so how much could I expect this to jack up the rates by?

50 and 60 KM/H road zone looks like public area and police don't give any tolerance after the over 10 Km/h road speed.

Just pay it and go on about your life, because you won't beat it. I mean, you were speeding, so it was your fault. It's not like the cop was out to get you, he was doing his job. Sorry.
As stated before.. Varies by state.. In ct.. You get away with it or save a couple hundred $.. I have seen a ticket go from $500 to $35... Now if i got a ticket in virginia or north carolina... You bet ur ass im paying it... Cause it aint gonna be changed...un less i know it was completely wrong...

OP, talk to your local community.. Friends.. Facebook people that are local.. That will tell you what is the best course of action.. But you will always get people that say just pay it.. Listen to the ones that decided not to "just pay it" as the "just payers" wouldnt know what actually happens if you plead not guilty.. Money is money...

No demerits means your insurance won't see it. If you're really concerned about insurance rates just don't change company for 3 years until it's off your drivers abstract. What's the fine 115$ or so with fees, just pay it and move on, consider it your first badge of honour.

Edit: you can probably get it reduced if you go to court but that is an insane amount of headache. I've been to court for a 60 over (which the cop actually fucked up writing and should have only been 40 over) and had I not been looking at a suspension it would have been cheaper to just pay. I'm also in Ontario so this should all apply to you.

insurance wont see it? so my rates wont go up?

and im not concerned about paying the fine, im more concerned about if and how much my insurance rates will go up per month.

the ticket fine is: (the amount is like spare change to me)
set fine - $37.50
total payable - $52.50

It will not go up, I've had 3 demerit tickets before and since my insurance company had no reason to recheck my drivers abstract after I was already a customer they had no idea and my rates did not budge. Changing company, and I would assume making a claim not 100% on that, are the only reasons they will check the abstract.

At least go to your day in court and try and get a lesser charge. The prosecutors in Ottawa are usually pretty fair. I speak from a positive experience. PM me if you need more info.

Your Canadian speeding fee is really low. With fees that low, I'd pay it because a "no demerit" up there sounds like you're insurance premium isn't going to increase anyway. I have heard of drivers fighting the ticket in court and having it dismissed because the issuing officer didn't show up or having it reduce it to a lower level (like a parking ticket) and not even get a point on your record. For those who really need it, it would be nice if you guys had traffic school up there which helps "erase" that off your driving record (must meet certain restrictions) and ensure that your insurance doesn't go up. Bes of luck to you.

If you weren't on a curve, hill, or crowded road you have little chance of beating it. So losing a morning or afternoon of pay to fight this may not be worth it.
