When exactly does ecu pull power?

So wondering when exactly the ecu decides to pull timing? Is it a combination of variables(both iat’s, both ect’s, etc.) or are any more important than the others when it comes to the ecu pulling power?

I think there are a number of factors including temps, load and more. Also, Honda's knock control strategy seems to be overly sensitive but it's being done to protect the engine.

Knock control for GDI engine is critical. That's the reason Honda is sensitive
