No more chirping with walk-away lock or manually double lock.

Any idea what’s up? Sometimes I can faintly hear the chirp, but usually it just doesn’t do it at all. It used to chirp once when I would get out of the car, then chirp twice when I walk away and it auto-locks. And also when I would hit the lock button on the FOB twice quickly.

The doors still actually lock, but there’s just no chirp anymore.

I believe the thing that makes the chirp is located in the rear bumper; driver's side.

This is another thread on here about the same thing. I'm pretty sure the sound unit is located somewhere where it gets plugged up with road gunk and a good was usually makes it audible again.

I’ve been looking for a diagram to see exactly where it is, but can’t seem to find one.

I’ll have to go through an auto-wash that gets the undercarriage and hope that does the trick.

This same thing happened to me,
I had to replace the unit, but it sits right in the middle of the bumper.

I really thought I had saved a photo.

But yeah... you can see it from underneath. It kinda' looks like a UBS stick or a pack of chewing gum. Two wires sticking out. Mounted just on the other side of the bumper; tucked in behind it.

Other folks have complained about the thing being too loud. Some folks have disconnected it. Others wrapped a bit of sticky tape around it.

I had the same thing happen on my non-auto-locking hatch. Try wiping off the lil sensors in the door jambs

Update: Well we had a wet/slushy day and now the chirp is back to full volume. I guess it was just clogged, as pn_man said, and got cleaned off with the wet weather.

I’ll have to remember to look the next time I’m under there to see how I can maybe prevent it from happening again.
