Talking with an expert and he thinks my sticky shifting might be due to a misaligned/uncalibrated sensor inside the trans that's not allowing easy entry in/out of gear. That's certainly the symptom - whether trans or shifter related. My experience is with older manuals. Is this a thing on the 10th gen Civic's manuals?

I've never heard of such a thing. Try shifting through gears with the car off and see if it's still sticky. Not saying it doesn't exist, but I'm not familiar with any electronic sensor that changes how sticky a shift into gear feels.

I agree.

I agree also. It's equally resistant in/out of gears with the engine on/off, in motion/neutral.
If such a sensor and capability exists, mine must not be functioning at all. ?‍♂

This basically eliminates it possibly being an electronic sensor. Not to sound mean, but you may want to talk to a different expert.

sounds like B.S.
I've never heard of that either and I can't imagine how a sensor could do that.

Not necessarily. Presuming this exists and is not working it could just be stuck in a position that isn't lined up to allow smooth gear changing.

Just spitballing as I've never heard of such a thing either. Perhaps this guy was thinking of an auto.
It very well may not exist in a manual (at least not on a 10th gen Civic).
