So maybe the PTP inlet pipe cover is not that far off after all...
Would love to have a thermal imager to find out for sure.
There is no doubt something is better to nothing with the inlet pipe crossing over directly above the furnace under the hood.
I recently made my own downpipe elbow blanket, which I do not recommend doing. I’m planning to write a post on it.
Anyway, I have leftover high temperature fabric and ceramic fiber. I could probably do a quick experiment.

There's also a thermal gasket available that goes between the inlet pipe and turbo.
I already tested that gasket made by PTP, but I didn't have too much improvements, this was back in 2018. I still have it btw.
