Gas door latch not unlocking

I just recently started having this issue on my 16 LX, the plunger inside of the gas tank will not unlock when I unlock the doors now. I’m out of warranty (44k) and I’m wondering if others are having this problem too. My car was hit in December and I know that the gas door was taken off and repainted, but the problem just started this week long after the car was returned to me. I don’t know if it has to do with cold weather? But the plunger moves easily when I physically move it back and forth.

I’m glad I didn’t waste money going to a shop, it resolved itself and quit doing it a few days after I posted this. Hasn’t done it since
