Looking to do my first real install (intercooler) and will need to jack up the front of the car. I have a single car garage and must do all auto work in the garage so management won't see (rental apartment).

I'm curious if anyone used some 2x6s to drive the car on so a low profile (long reach) jack can reach the front jack point.

I can't use the side jack points since it'll need to be done in a single car garage and I don't have enough lateral space on each side of the car for the jack.

Thoughts on best why to reach the front jack point in a single car garage.

Thanks!

I may try the 2x6 method this weekend to see if my low profile / long reach jack will reach the front jack point. I'll report back.

I just put a couple spare pieces of wood under the front tires, drive up on them, then use a low profile jack and a phone camera to get the thing centered on the lift point. Take your time, it's quite difficult to hit imo.

+1 for ramps. I got a pair from GKTech very similar to the ones above. They are convenient and five enough clearance to get my jack to the front point

How many 2x6 did you need? Two on each side? Or just one?
Imo if you put the full 2x6 under there you limit your jack maneuvaribility. You really just need to drive the car up on two small 12/18" pieces of 2X4 and then slide a low profile jack under and find the point.

Else those low profile ramps look like they accomplish same thing. But long wood under car is a bit in the way - you'll see when you get under there

Just one per side works for me. I know friends that have to use 2 for their cars though. All depends on what height your car is at (I’m at stock height currently) and your jack (mine is a harbor freight version of some variety).

I have two jacks. A tiny, shitty jack that cost like $20, and then the Big Boy HF steel jack. I jack up one side with the tiny guy and then get the center Big Poppa.
i do the exact same. quick and easy

Although expensive, I drive up on my race ramps. I always wanted these and now that I have them there is no substitute. Owning this car, it has paid itself off several times. I feel so much safer and am protecting my jack points. I can slide out part of them to make side access easier. Plus at the height they set the car at it was so much easier to remove all those bolts and pins from underneath.

Tempted by these and even those higher standing cup cradles as well.

I went down to Lowe's and bought an 8 ft 2x10. Brought it home in the R because these things are so practical (just a towel under where it rested on the dash). Made a couple of these to add about 3 inches of clearance.
Probably should have put a stopper at the end, but I've been careful and no issues driving off the end so far ?
