Hello,

My 2016 Honda Civic 1.5L has been giving minor knocking sounds for the past month and two days ago the knocking sounds became very loud. Oil level seems ok.

Did anyone experience this? What would be the issue?

Appreciate any help.

That does not sound good.

Hopefully that isn't rod knock.

I was told that an engine swap maybe required. I am hoping it's something easily fixed.
Have you tried to pinpoint the sound? Lets hope something lose and hopefully the knock is vibration from engine to chases but I doubt that

Btw how many miles you got? I saw some few rust from here and there which is weird for me

That sounds like bent rod or spun rod bearing to me. You will have to get it open and inspected or swap to an used cheap one from a junkyard

Not good. it‘s either top end, I.E. cam/valves but could be bottom end (rods/crank).
you need to narrow down where the noise is coming from, but it won’t last long with that. Something is broken And you’ll blow the motor if you run it under load (it’s pretty much already blown)

I honestly wasn't sure at first, but after asking a multiple mechanics, they all said that bottom line is the engine needs replacement. Anyways, I bought a used engine with around 100k km less on it and had it replaced, car is working fine now.
