Hey all,

I've had my Civic Hatch for good 5-6 months now, and since summer is coming, considering upgrading my intake and exhaust.

I know the exhaust manifold and CAT are the largest restriction points (cat back not as much), so wanted to replace this area first.

After looking at the engine and diagrams, I'm not sure if this is an EASY replacement or not.

Normally on a N/A, the manifold is easy to replace, and same with the cat as they are all separate.

Has anyone attempted to replace the turbo exhaust / CAT on the 10th gen Civics yet?
The area in RED below is what I'm thinking is the turbo exhaust + cat as one giant piece?

Intake:
was planning on getting Mishimoto SRAM Intake + Injen (or Mishimoto) Intercooler
Exhaust:
was planning on getting 2.5" piping + Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonator + Flowmaster DBX (single, not dual) muffler + Y split dual-tip exhaust tips.
I have an EXL Hatch... see no point in 2 mufflers.

Few more images below.
Oh... nice to know of Sport/ST of the 2017 Hatchback, the muffler hooks have a special brace welded on, because there are no muffler hooks near the middle rear of the chassis. :banghead:

Here is an example of a regular Civic X custom exhaust:

this engine has no exhaust manifold. as the turbo is bolted directly to the head

the piece you want to replace is call downpipe

do it right the first time and go with 3" exhaust piping

I really don't plan on replacing the turbo OR the CVT for my hatch... so I really don't see a reason to get a 3" downpipe.
The CVT will start to slip around 260+ torque... and the current stock turbo can only handle around 240 torque before causing problems.

I wasn't sure how much of a restriction the turbo outlet/cat on this engine actually was if anyone has replaced it before.

Oh... anyone know if the stock downpipe is 2.25" or 2.5" ?

The cat is in the downpipe. Right now there is only one downpipe option and it is still in the pre-order stages. What are your power goals?

I plan on only doing Hondata +6 PSI boot, probably nothing much more than that.
Just wanted to add a little more HP and Torque where I can without over stressing the CVT or Turbo.
I know the CVT will be the major roadblock on boosting this turbo car, then the turbo would probably be the next limitation.

I'd say around 230HP and 245 Torque max would be my comfort zone for the stock Turbo and CVT.

245lb.ft is easily attainable with the stock turbo/intake/exhaust, 230hp is a little harder because you just cant hold the torque high enough in the RPMs to get that hp number... with stock DP/exhaust I was able to make right around 240hp on a high octane blend (clutch didnt like the tq but settled on a 235/282 final tune), but I think on pump I was only around 214hp and this was on a dynapack that some will say reads high.

Any idea what octane the "blend" was?

I can't divulge the "secret" to the secret-sauce but it wasn't just octane that allowed more timing... But as far as octane, should've been around 96 is all but even on pump 92 gained me almost 12/12

Well I'm not on my computer maybe it says it there but where do you live? Because other countries advertise octane different where 98 is actually about what our 91/92 is

Mmmm... I hope you have a manual instead of a CVT when you said 282 ftlb?
I really don't plan on going higher than 91-Octane, so I know 230HP is pushing it a little without killing my CVT in the process with such low octane.

I might end up modding my Aero a little and adding a few vortex generators to better improve drag on various parts of the car.
Need to add front splitter, add side skirts, and cover the under body better before adding rear diffusers.
The current hatchback roof spoiler is junk for aero (going to swap for Type-R corner pieces), and the current tail-light spoiler... well, can't do much about that one.

Yeah I have the 6MT, I've done the cvt thing once and just can't handle it (although I've hear the 10th civic is way better than the 9th accord...)
