Can a short throw adapter on your shifter really cause issues?

I mentioned about the Acuity short throw adapter to someone and they said their friend is a honda tech and several people have had issues with their linkage and transmissions because the adapter "stretches" the linkages. Is there any truth to this? I've had my short throw adapter for over a year and I drive pretty conservatively. I've never heard of this.

That doesn't make any sense. The cables only move so far and the lever arm length of the shift assembly has nothing to do with how far the cables themselves move, just how far you have to move the shift knob and how much effort it takes.

Acuity doesn't recommend using one in addition to a short(er) shifter

I had the short shifter adapter for about 25k miles and it never cause any issues. Eventually replaced the entire shifter with the stage 3 short shifter from Acuity. I would absolutely recommend going that route if the money isn't an issue.

when i had my 16 lx i put on a short throw adapt., not acuity, it seemed ok but there was something about it, it came off when i picked up a type r shifter.
On my si i have the full acuity shifter.
