Hi guys,

I just changed out the air filter and unfortunately one of the four screws holding down the airbox snapped when I was trying to unbolt it and now it's somewhere in the engine bay. Will this be a problem?

Also, what size are those bolts? Can I just get them from a general hardware store? I still have the washers.

I would remove another and take it to Fastenal to have them match the threading and bolt size. If that doesnt work ask the dealership?

I picked up some of those from the Honda dealer for pretty cheap when I broke one of mine off. They had it in about a day.

You are not supposed to remove them. They are captive.

Help us all out here. How do you remove the airbox lid without removing those screws/bolts?

They are captive, which means they don't screw all the way out. You just unscrew them until they disengage from the bottom half of the airbox.

Hope this link works: short video of what the bolts look like once they are unscrewed.

Yeah they are cleverly designed so you don't have to worry about losing the bolts every time you remove the airbox, although if you keep unscrewing they will come out eventually. However, they seem to have been made a little too weak for all our strong manly-men arms
