2018 Touring Splash Shield Ripped off

Hey Guys,

I just joined the forum and have an issue.

It's been snowing like crazy up here where I'm at. The other day I notice a grating sound and my splash Shield is dangling off; acting like a shovel. Take it to the dealer to see if it's still under warranty. After waiting forever it's determined it's not. Basically it was damaged pretty bad. Hit something and kinda torn. Definitely reparable and only thought about it the next day. Went back and they tossed it.

So the situation I'm in is that I have no splash Shield. Dealer told me I needed the whole assembly. This freaking thing cost 430 plus I need the clips and bolts. Looking at $600 .

Is it absolutely necessary to have this shield? Thoughts? Any MacGyver ideas?

Called a few salvages in my area and no luck.

I know how youfeel. I got the same problem after this Monday's snowstorm and getting stuck for an hour. Initially thought it was ice/snow around the wheelwell that was making the noise. Went to kick some out and spray the rest off. But the noise persisted. Went to check under the car and saw the shield was torn. Everytime I went through a very slight bump on the road it would scrape.

My car's skid plate gone for a year now. Everything works fine. Just little bit dusty under the hood. When I say dusty, it's Sahara desert dusty.

If your splash shield got torn off, then it was re-installed improperly.

Mine's still intact, but in my old car, the splash shield ripped off from hitting a deer carcass at 70 MPH. That was nearly 4 years ago. That car's still fine.

Do you change your own oil?

Dealer may forget to put some shield bolts with oil change as we read in the forum.
With all the bolts in place you can't loose the shield.

Did your dealer change oil ?
