I believe Accord sales are down because the base Accord has a 1.5T engine w/cvt. Verses the Camry has a 2.5L with 8 speed automatic. But the Accord clearly has more power at less RPM.

2018 Accord Base
Engine 1.5L I-4 192 HP 192.0 ft.lbs. @ 1,600 rpm
Transmission 2-spd CVT w/OD
Fuel Economy City 30.0 mpg
Fuel Economy Hwy 38.0 mpg
Bumper to Bumper Months/Miles 36/36,000

2018 Camry Base
Engine 2.5L I-4 203 HP 184.0 ft.lbs. @ 5,000 rpm
Transmission 8-spd sequential shift control auto w/OD
Fuel Economy City 28.0 mpg
Fuel Economy Hwy 39.0 mpg
Bumper to Bumper Months/Miles 36/36,000

I thought dealer were holding CTR's hostage to sell more Accords? ;)

Honestly the exterior styling is Ugly. The interior is nice. But really the Civic is probably the better value between the two of them. The sedan is very roomy and is probably the same size as some of the old Accord. They should just make a Accord Wagon again with the 2.0T and manual :D

I was at my Honda dealer yesterday and saw a ton of Accords on the lot. Am I the only one that sees a lot of styling similarities with the Sonata?

Well at least to my eye the new Accord's basic profile and rear 3/4 view looks pretty close to the last Sonata:

I started seeing the new accord around. Even the sport is not very good looking to me. I see why the Camry is outselling. It looks amazing for a Camry. Especially with the black roof

Who would have thought the Accord, of all of the vehicles in Honda's line up, would be the one that needs rescue with sales.

I happened to catch the live reveal by coincidence and was very disappointed with the styling. The Camry on the other hand blew me away. After seeing both in person, my opinion hasn’t changed. The accord seems to me to be very bland and play it safe with its design.

The engine choices on the other hand, I’d love that 2.0 turbo and a manual.

Nothing bland about the new Accord, if anything it is probably over styled.

This is karma for the Honda dealerships. Shame on them for adding ADM’s to the Civic Si’s when they came out and currently to the CTR’s. Now the greedy dealerships need help for moving Accords. I wonder how many potential customers were turned off from Honda when they saw a CTR climbing up to 40K with ADM.

There have been many reviews of the Camry and cars like type R noting that they are possibly overstyled, never seen one saying that about accord... edit
