SAFETY RECALL! 2017-18 Civic Steering Gearbox

"BACKGROUND
Due to incorrect production of the steering gearbox torque sensor, the torque sensor magnet may shift from its normal position inside the gearbox. A shifted sensor magnet may cause the steering to move left or right unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the steering gearbox. Then, do a four-wheel alignment, followed by the steering angle neutral position learning procedure."

Coupe: LX and Si
Sedan: LX, EX, EX-T, EX-L
Hatchback: LX (only when equipped with Honda Sensing), EX, and EX-L

I know we are in the age of fake news but in the old days people were innocent before proven guilty and news agencies investigated and gathered hard information before making it news worthy. We appreciate the heads up but it is unlikely a 3rd party is privy to recall information before Honda releases it to the public. We will remain vigilant.

Original post is not incorrect. There are 25 units affected by this recall for the Civics. It will not show up on a recall list for a certain VIN unless your vehicle is one of the few affected. *Also, directly from American Honda.
