"BACKGROUND
Due to incorrect production of the steering gearbox torque sensor, the torque sensor magnet may shift from its normal position inside the gearbox. A shifted sensor magnet may cause the steering to move left or right unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the steering gearbox. Then, do a four-wheel alignment, followed by the steering angle neutral position learning procedure."

Applies to:

Coupe: LX and Si
Sedan: LX, EX, EX-T, EX-L
Hatchback: LX (only when equipped with Honda Sensing), EX, and EX-L

Associated Honda TSB 18-102 issued September 28, 2018

Also applies to the 2017-2018 CR-V (TSB 18-103).

This info is from an outside source not affiliated with Honda. I know we are in the age of fake news but in the old days people were innocent before proven guilty and news agencies investigated and gathered hard information before making it news worthy. We appreciate the heads up but it is unlikely a 3rd party is privy to recall information before Honda releases it to the public. We will remain vigilant.

I think it goes without saying it's poor form to post this type of stuff and not link to the actual document.
I wish I could, but Honda gets mad at me when I do that. They may already be mad at me and I just don't know it yet. I don't like making Honda mad. :)

You have any screenshots @zroger73 ?
I have the actual TSB.

Apparently the Sports and Tourings are not affected?
Those appear to be among the trims that aren't affected according to the information in the TSB.

Also no recalls showing for any model 2018 Civic, directly from the http://owners.honda.com 'Recall' section.
Nope - not yet.

This information I quoted was directly from Honda.

Yes - the information I have provided should be taken with a grain of salt.

My question is: What prize do I win if the information I have provided proves to be accurate?

Then you need to post it, or GTFO. There is no such thing as a "secret" safety recall.

Why should it be taken with a "grain of salt" if you're in possession of the TSB?

You're a troll. Get out of here. (And I'm ready to apologize when you do so).

Original post is not incorrect. There are 25 units affected by this recall for the Civics. It will not show up on a recall list for a certain VIN unless your vehicle is one of the few affected. *Also, directly from American Honda.

Are you saying this only affects 25 vehicles total?
