when starting your car, do you start it with your foot on the break or without? Sometimes I do both and don't know which is correct

When starting you are supposed to push the brake while pressing the start button. If you press the start button without holding brake it activates the accessory mode.

Maybe I should've clarified: I don't have push to start. I have an LX

With or without PUSH START I always depress the brake pedal.

It's a matter of safety especially for manual.

Please don't do like my dad, who every time he gets in to the car (on the rare occ I let him drive lmao) just hits the button and stares at the gauges, blankly, wondering why the car won't start.

I have a manual and only press the clutch because I always have the parking brake on when parking, but I'm always prepared to press the brake in case it starts to roll for whatever reason.

I never touch the brake when starting. Depress clutch, turn key. Easy peasy.

Clutch only and a way to go, but I guess you would need to push on the brake to release the annoying electric parking brake.

You dont have to.. Parking brake auto releases if you try to go.. Ive forgotten a few times as im used to a manual parking break.. Im sure il get used to it at some point.. But if you start releasing the clutch pedal/give a lil gas it releases it within a half a second
