It says 2022 - right around the time this generation is done. Will we start to see production issues from disgruntled workers at a factory in it's death throes? Depends on how Honda handles the closures, but yeah, it's a decent possibility.

This will be the last Swindon born Type R. It may be the last Civic Type R forever as all previous gens sans the first were from Swindon - but I bet they just shift production to Canada or somewhere else.

I'm surprised the idiots shouting "project fear!" aren't invading this thread. I'm not british, but even I'm tired of the Brexit morons.

If the engine is made here, why not move the entire assembly here?

Well, the party is over! Our British counterparts have sealed their fate with BREXIT. In fact, their whole car industry is almost non-existent. We've all got our problems I guess. We've got an American Idiot for a President, but it would appear that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree from whence it came.

Can't really blame Honda either. BREXIT no plan, future unknown. Honda Execs must be like "You guys a have a proper cuppa then call us when you have it "sorted out".

You can't ask for a divorce then expect your partner to not leave with the kids.
Get out there with big signs in front of Parliament "Please STAY".

Update to this string, according to Honda, Brexit had nothing to do with the Swindon plant closing. Oh well, lots of good theories tho.

God, you're gullible. So you just read what someone says, even though he contradicts himself and it's an obvious bald faced lie? Source article:

https://www.autonews.com/manufacturing/honda-plant-closings-shift-work-north-america

"(Hachigo) said closing the Swindon plant after 30 years of operation had nothing to do with the worrisome trade issues being raised by Brexit..."
"Honda’s withdrawal from European automaking comes amid uncertainty about the impact of Brexit and the prospects of a new free-trade pact between Japan and Europe."

So you can believe a one liner meant to cover Honda's ass or you can believe your own lying eyes and brain. The Hard Brexit rushing towards us in about a month and the timing of the announcement of this closure - no, ignore that! Ignore the suppliers on the continent who won't be able to deliver freely and the complete destruction of just in time inventory and production! Ignore the new Japan-EU free trade agreement that GB is not a part of! Nope! Honda says right here! Brexit not the reason! Pro Brexit politicians agree! QED!

Brexiters are a special kind of stupid and I think it's hilarious that you believe that shit in Alabama. What a maroon.

I read the article that was posted, and what the fuk makes you an authority on Honda’s business making decisions or Brexit, you’re a little miserable worm ranting on a website, nothing more. GFY.

As owners that should make us ecstatic. If the thing retains demand through the years that will just make it retain value better.

I read this and I'm no buisness major but. How is closing a plant building a new one and importing cars from japan back to England cheaper then just building them there? It's what he said that building them in japan and shipping them back would be cheaper under new rules.

I work for one of the largest corporations in the US, I’ve worked in Finance and Accounting my entire career, and I’m far from an expert, especially on the automotive industry, but I can tell you this, a large corporate business decision is based on a ton of information, and is made years in advance, and so many variables you can’t list them all. People on these forums are just having fun throwing out a few ideas that’s all.
