I'm not paying over MSRP for mine, and I wouldn't. I don't like to purchase anything with too much emotion, and I think that is how people get caught in the dealer markup game. I don't NEED this car by any means, and I will still walk away from it if something isn't right with the numbers once it gets here. On one hand, I do agree that life is short, but sometimes it isn't, and I can use any potential markup for paying something off or investing in my retirement or market...just in case I do live to see it.

I think it's because they come in waves. That's what I found out from looking at the local inventory numbers for months. When they hit the shore you can easily find one, but right before the next wave, there's one or two, even none in 50mi radius.

I don't really see the point of your topic other than to troll people on this board. Must be nice to have the means to pay over MSRP and then shitpost about it to those not willing to do the same.
Im not trolling, I didnt shit talk anyone. The only ugly post here is yours. I paid 1k over and they included a 10 year warrenty so really i didnt pay over anything. Im not rich, i work at a flippin dollar general. But i get nice things i like instead of going without by bitching about cost. Life's short buy what you want is all im saying. When you die would you rather have owned the car and enjoyed it or die saying well i wasn't gonna pay extra and saved the money that now someone else is gonna blow all while you had zero fun?

I know the internet is full of people starting crap posts but im sort of tired of people who just attack my posts. All i said was why do people say they cant find them when there are plenty around if you look. No idea how you get im trolling out of that. But anyway to the posters who agree and actually researched and saw same as me, thanks.

I doubt that when I am dying or resting in peace I will be thinking about how I should have paid that extra $10k to drive a CTR on Interstate 5 at 80 mph, with Quick Detailer in the car to wipe off specks of dirt at every stop.

But I do agree with you. If someone wants the car badly enough maybe the extra $5k isnt bad, especially if thise extra $5k come with some accesory in the carz This car is holding it’s value real well. At the end of the day, there are older, slower CTRs I would rather pay a good penny for. Its all about preference, needs and wants. There will be plenty of CTRs sitting on used lots not a big deal.

Dream car or not it's still a Civic and these cars appeal to a range of buyers that aren't ballers and value their money. If you have a lot of money or don't value money then by all means fatten your dealer's pockets by $5k just to get the car of your dreams but understand a lot of people don't like giving money away for free as a new Type R at the end of the say is only worth it's MSRP.

I guess true but.. back in the 60s and 70s lots of cars cost 6k 7k. And people said the same thing but now those cars stock are over 6 figures in auctions. The type R was named by collectable car company Hagerty as a car to become collectable and to increase in value. And if speculation plays out and no 19s come out it will go up in value. Hell 1999 Si's are bringing dang near 19k plus asking prices. For me the car is gonna pay back that adm. I rather have it then have missed it.

Got any links to these 19k+ Si? For that price, the car would have to be stored showroom condition with 20k or less miles lifetime.

If you drive your Type-R for the 20 years it will take to see if this car becomes a collectible, how many years will it have sat in a garage to make sure it is in the condition to fetch that price?

Article was on jalopnik about Si's. Yes the one was pristine but others were not. For keeping car mint not true. A 68 camero shell alone will run you more then its original retail. Just all depends on the car and who wants it.

I am not going to speak to the availability of the CTR but I can speak to the ADM taking people out of the affordability. About a month ago there where two CTRs on the lots around me one with a 4k ADM and the other with a 7.5K ADM. I am bringing some negative equity over from my current car and these mark ups make it impossible for me to get a loan for the CTR. When I asked the 7.5k mark up deal why they just said "well that is what other dealers are doing so we are too" and the 4k was the same attitude. "We can get the 4k so we are doing it". I was luck that another deal is going to be giving me a CTR at MSRP, and actually giving me a good value on my trade in. This makes it possible for me to own the CTR. ADM is killing the CTR and I do wish Honda would crack down on it, they finally gave us the CTR and I am betting they only gave us a limited amount to see how well they sell and how fast but allowing the ADM is going to screw with that data and make it seem like they are not selling as quickly as they should be selling.

It's really not a big deal. You can get one for MSRP if you try. I got mine for $2.5 over and did little searching, only called about 10 dealers. And yes, it's true that most dealers advertise for MSRP on Car Gurus and their own site. You find out the ADM by calling.

If you want a challenge try to get a new Porsche GT2 RS. They are going for $200k - $400k over. Even if you are willing to cough up $400k over +$250 for the car + Tax (on both!), it's not easy. It's easier to find a CTR for MSRP.
