So I made a post in the Si subsection but thought I'd make a new one here that's updated to try and see if I can get any more help with it. Did tons of research since it happened (1 week ago today) and narrowed it down to these 2 possible issues... diff or a bearing.

Money shifted last week from 3rd into 2nd going WOT, threw it into neutral asap and coasted.

Car runs perfect now except I have a whining sound whenever I get on the gas. Whining sound comes up around 20 mph and will get faster/louder the faster I go, the gear I am in does not matter at all. Below are things I have checked for/confirmed since the money shift.

1.) No CEL however P0219 (over rev) code.
2.) Engine runs perfectly fine, builds boost
3.) Did compression tests on engine, everything is ok
4.) Clutch grabs perfectly and engages perfect
5.) Able to shift perfectly smooth, no lockouts, no crunchiness
6.) Drained MTF fluid + oil change, zero debris and clean

I've talked and researched for many hours trying to find this issue especially on this forum and although I found 1-2 posts, they are not updated so I don't know the end result or fix. I think it's one of either two things...

1.) Bad bearing in the transmission: I'm not sure which, I don't think it's a throwout bearing because if that was the case then the noises should be happening when clutch is disengaged and should go away when I engage it, which I'm not dealing with. Maybe input shaft bearing? Perhaps pilot bushing?
2.) Differential issue: Leaning towards this. Being that the pitch is not RPM dependent then it must mean it's something directly connected to the output shaft. Shock load of misshift might've caused minor damage, maybe teeth on the diff because bearings would just make the noise constantly regardless of on/off throttle. Final drive gears might've been affected perhaps some teeth shaved off.

First time dealing with tranny problems and a money shift this bad, wondering what could be my possible routes of fixing this? I've been told if it's the diff there's really no way to fix it other than replacing the ring gear, would Honda not be able to crack open the tranny and fix specific gears or would I have to get a new one?

Thank you all

I’m having the same issue . Did you end up finding a fix for this?? Doesn’t matter which gear I’m in, whenever I accelerate I’ll get a whining sound. If you found a solution I’d greatly appreciate it!

Hello, I have exactly the same problem. Did you find a solution?
