Hey all, just curious where the 1.5T in the hatches is made. I know it's all slapped together in Swindon, UK, but where is the engine made? The sedans 1.5T gets made in USA, but not sure if they're shipping the engines over to the UK (only to ship them back) or they have an engine plant somewhere. Read a rumor that all the European/Asian civics engines were made in Japan, but I can't confirm that anywhere.
I also asked Honda Canada's customer service... and they came back with this:
Thank you for contacting the Honda Canada Customer Relations Department in relation to your brand new 2018 Honda Civic bearing Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) SHHK7G22JUXXXXXX, we apologise for the delay and appreciate your patience while we respond.
In response to your message regarding the manufacturing place of the engine and transmission of your vehicle, we have to inform you that such information is not available from the Customer Relations Department. We apologize for any frustration this may cause you.
I replied, "I find it odd that the company that sold me the car can't tell me where the engine is made."
I expect no response. haha.
