*** ALL GOOD - they forgot to plug the connector back in! ***

Guys,

I just picked up my car from the tint shop. Super professional shop did a great job with the tint... I completely trust them and they did remove the spoiler to do the job. For some reason, I cannot open the rear hatch now. I don't hear the locking mechanism when I use the buttons on the hatch, the key fob, or the door unlock switch.

Is there something they may have unplugged and forgot to connect when they were buttoning everything up again? Any insight is appreciated!

Thanks!

Obviously something happen while they were installing your tint since it was working prior to taking it to them. So that would be your first step and see if they can fix it. It could be just a piece of something stuck between the latch preventing it from operating properly.

I bet water got into the electronics. See if it comes back after a few hours drying time.

It’ll work once it’s dry. Common issue

Tint place I used didn’t need to remove the lower wing otherwise I would have kept searching....They used pre-cuts ready to go... no fuss

The "Honda approved" way to take the lower spoiler off involves removing the rear "fascia". If they did it that way, it's possible they forgot to reconnect the harness when they put it back together. If it doesn't start working in a couple days, ask them if they took that off to get the spoiler off.

Don't wait for it to work magically if you suspect there's water in there. Get them to blow it out asap before it causes any more permanent issues in the actuator/switch/harness terminals.

Hopefully it'll be just a connector they didn't plug back in.

agreed. i'm heading back now.. we'll see.

coincidently, i drove home in a monsoon yesterday too. i've read a few threads that the electronic hatch release mechinism is prone to failure with excessive moisture. from tinting, rain storms, or even car washing? this doesn't make much sense.

All good! They forgot to plug in the connector when they put it all back together! I did not notice the reverse camera was not working.. along with the hatch not opening. 10 minutes later - ALL GOOD! Thanks, all. NO WATER ISSUES!
