Why is there a big notch in the middle near the back of seat?

How did the owner of the following photo'ed trunk tray fit the whole lower right side? I have a '19 and I had to fold the extra notch on the lower right side to fit the tray into my trunk. Thanks!

If I’m not mistaken you cut off that thing on the right side. European market has a Type R without a sub.

You cut off the right sided tab. The European CTR has their own Type R mat, so it can't be for that reason it doesn't have a sub.

That is a good question. Wondered about that too when I first got it. Something to look into...

EDIT: I believe it is for markets that have a 3rd seat in the back and have a car seat anchor where that notch is. It could also be for people who want to put a Type R trunk tray in a different Hatchback trim.

Looks like they just jammed it in there. Looks like that person does have a sub.

Mine is just jammed in there, it's not perfect but I haven't had the time to try and trim it properly.

Yes that poor fit is annoying

I just used some scissors and cut off that extra piece. Perfect fit after that and it took all of 5 minutes to do.

Anyone buy the mugen mat yet? I just saw it today and am considering the red one to match my HFP floor mats. I already have the CTR plastic one but hate how much stuff slides on it. What annoys me though is it appears to sell for half that in Japan, I know there is shipping but damn what a markup.

Have you checked out Lloyd's mats? For the price of that Mugen cargo mat you could pick up the entire front/rear/cargo Ultimat set from Lloyds. I'm happy with mine.

I’ve seen those and they aren’t for me, I already have all the front 4 HFP mats so just a trunk is needed. Logo is a little too much for me.

I hear ya on the little too much. I went back and forth on it being too flashy.

You can order the cargo mat by itself, and without the logo too. Looks like that configuration is $129.90 with their vinyl black edge binding.
