Parking brake noise

Does anyone experience the parking brake being loud while engaging and disengaging? I remember it being smooth but today I notice it being loud

i dunno, mine always sound like landing gears deploying, lol

Mines was smooth and you can barely notice it but since today it's very loud. Does anyone know if there's like a cover or fluid to help it run smooth

Its not overly loud. And I think it sounds kinda cool anways lol

Mines was loud enough to think something is wrong . But it went back to normal and smooth after work

Haha, I admit I like doing it when people are walking nearby. Always get a quick glimpse

when your outside the car the parking brake is pretty audible when it engages and that gets people's attention

Yep. I remember my wife's HR-V one day when she pulled in the garage, did a self test on the parking brake. I had never heard it before, and I was like "WTF was that?". I figured it out later, and I dont remember it ever doing it again. Maybe that's what your Civic was doing, a self test. Just a thought.

well i did notice its only loud when the engine is off and i engage it, when its on its a lot quieter. most likely because theres still pump pressure to assist it
