Car battery is completely dead and central locking doesn't work. Friend tried to open using the physical key inside the fob but was unable. Anyone had this issue with the R?

Why was he unable with the physical key? Its completely mechanical and should open the door unless his key/barrel is damaged....

This is exactly what I thought. The car is only from last June. I'm assuming he didn't apply enough force I have no idea.

It's the correct built in key from the keyless remote. It's clearly mechanical and works without any electricity, says so in the manual. I will do it myself once I can leave the country but this epidemic prevents me at the moment.

Try calling AAA if you have it and they can unlock car in 30 seconds. If your key doesn't work then its prob the wrong key, its very possible dealership could easily mix up.

There is no AAA in Eastern Europe. I'l figure it out somehow when I head there in July.
