Just before its world debut at the Paris Auto Show, production of the 10th-generation Honda Civic hatch has kicked off at the company's UK factory in Swindon.

The new Civic hatch will be exported to over 70 countries around the world and prior to its launch, over $200 million was spent on upgrading the factory. Now we can see where all that money went in a detailed 15-minute long video showing the new Civic hatch being built.

While the Civic is one of the world's best selling cars, it's production process isn't entirely handled by robots. In fact, a number of important processes are still carried out by expert technicians, such as the assembly of the suspension components, the installation of exterior trim and the polishing of the completed cars.

In Europe, the latest Civic hatch will initially be available with a 1.0-liter turbo three-cylinder engine delivering 127 hp as well as a 1.5-liter turbo'd four-cylinder pumping out 180 hp. Further down the road, a diesel model will be incorporated into the range as will the modified 2.0-liter turbo'd unit set to power the new Civic Type R and deliver in excess of 300 hp.

While production of the Civic hatch is being handled by the firm's UK plant, the Civic sedan will be built at its facility in Gebzé, Turkey.
