When are the 18's coming out? I was just on the phone with another dealer and when I mentioned the 18's she said they won't be out for a "looooong time" but had no time-frame to give me. I've tried my google-fu but can't find anything.

My dealer said the same thing. I'm still relatively new to Honda and car-buying in general, but since Honda skipped 2016 for the Si there's nothing stopping them from skipping 2018, right?

The 2018 Civic hatchback began arriving at dealers last week with no changes according to Honda's press release. The 2018 Civic Type R was confirmed to receive no changes a couple of weeks ago. The Type R is built in the same factory as the other Civic hatchbacks. The Si is built in Canada along with the Civic sedan - all should go on sale in the next few weeks. The 2018 Accord press drives are at the end of this month, so we should see a quiet news release confirming the 2018 Civic sedan and coupe (including Si) will be a carryover before then. Although the Si was a "late introduction", it makes no sense to keep making 2017 Si alongside 2018 non-Si sedans and coupes. A refresh should happen next year for the 2019 model year.

Honestly, I almost consider the 2017 Civic Si a 2018 due to its late release. Like others mentioned, I imagine the 2017 Civic Si will be the only Si until 2019 models (i.e. never really announcing a 2018 just continue to sell the 2017).

Back in the good ol' days any car produced in August-December was considered the following model year. I do remember when Honda gave us the 2009 CRV in the beginning of 2008. I think it was February even.

Edit: CRV years, still not sure if correct, but dates line up for where I was employed.

18MY has already started shipping out/arriving so 18 Si's should be in by end of month. Salespeople really don't know shit about cars most of the time and I worked with them for 14 years.

Any changes for the 18 model year or is the 18 model year basically a 17 Si manufactured a few months later?

Boy are y'all gonna be surprised when the '18s come to dealerships in two weeks as AWD hybrid hatchbacks with volume knobs, spare tires and 250hp/tq... :D
not going to happen

Do you have a source for this info? Not doubting you, but it would be nice to have a source to tell the sales folks when I'm trying to negotiate. ;)
