One thing holding some back on pulling the trigger on the Type R is the expectation of additional trim levels to come out next year.

I heard this through a video or article, don't recall. Does anyone know what the other trim levels or options might be? Not a big fan of Touring package as I feel the Honda NAV is a big waste of money.

I think I would want to kick myself if I buy the CTR now and in 4 months they announce a new Sport trim package or a GT package, etc. Already not being able to wait for the CTR I purchased a Sport hatch last December. Good news is the dealer is giving me a great value for my trade as it hasn't even seen its first oil change. The concern is that I may be in this same boat in one year if CTR offers more appealing trim levels. However, if I wait I only continue to lose value on my Sport as a trade.

Anyone have any evidence of additional trims being considered?

I think there will be a base model with less stuff in it. If you're looking for a special edition, or something like the S2000 Club Racer equivalent, I wouldn't hold my breath.

looks like there will be a base model, minus auto climate, 12 speaker stereo, LED lights. I donno, if i'm buying a 30k car, i kinda expect those features and will way extra for them.

Agree on the NAV, it has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, there is no need for this $1000+ accessory and its weight

I never imagined Nav to be a heavy accessory... < 5lbs?

That's like, 2 good hours at a buffet for me...

so where is the proof there is a different trim? so far there are only people who HOPE there is, but no proof that the US or Canadian Markets will get anything but what we have now.

Lol a lot less time for me
in my better days, I'd be right there with ya. :)

...in my defense, I also have a toddler to attend now, too, so she often distracts me from my original intentions...

speaking of distractions - apologies for hijacking this thread from CTR -> buffet accomplishments...

No proof exactly, just a comment made by a guy driving a prototype CTR that some dude posted;

I can only comment that I heard from presumably a Honda employee in a video that there may be more trim levels next year. If this means they will offer a base pkg I have no worries.
How many car models out there are currently offered in only one trim level? I don't think this is an industry standard so speculation that additional trim packages is forthcoming is understandable, IMO.

well, to be more technical, the type-R IS a trim level. but I do see where the speculation comes from; as the previous Type-R in Europe has a base.

True. For all we know they may just stop selling the TypeR in the us without a MY18.
