Does the maintenance minder take time into consideration when calculating oil life? I got my car in november but only have ~4k miles on it. The dealer called and tried to get me in for an oil change but the maintenance minder says (I believe) 60% oil life. If it doesn't is the time interval on this car 12 months? The salesman told me 10k or 12 months yet service tells me every 3, which I think is a sham. What is the correct value here?

1) please take the time to review your owners manual and related sources (paper or online)
2) You don't mention which engine, but most of the time Ive seen out here is at minimum, change oil 1/year.
3) Follow the MM. Change it at 10%. The MM will also remind you if time has expired (the 1 year rule).

1) Person I spoke with basically told me that what the manual says is false info... I should have asked to speak with a manager at that point.
2) Yeah I forget that we can have different engines in these cars. 1.5T
3) Thanks, so it takes time into consideration so that eases my mind

My Acura service guy tried to tell me the manual is wrong also. I really trusted him up to that point, too. Makes me so aggravated.

I wonder how Honda corporate would feel about their dealers telling customers the manuals are wrong

"First oil change should be done when oil percent gets down to 15-20 or when it's been one year since your car was built, whichever comes first,"

Why change it prematurely at 15-20%?

If you're doing it yourself I'd recommend changing at 1%.

Car engine oil change is not a rocket science. It was alway same since last 30 years ( and may be more ) and for any car.

As I do my self I change oil every 5K miles for synthetic oil
