My wife was picking up her friend with our 2016 Civic EX. While waiting for her in the driveway and engine running she got this message: (the keyless device was in the cup holder)
Keyless Remote not Detected
She stop the engine and restated with no problem. No message.
It happen also later in the day with same symptoms. (keyless device in cup holder)
I changed the battery and waiting to see if the problem comes back.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks Paul

If the fob battery change does not work you might try disconnecting the battery (in the car) to see if that makes any changes.

Taking a guess your car is about 2 years old, our 2015 crv fob battery needed replaced after 2 years. But dash usually tells you when the fob battery is low and needs to be replaced.

I did replace the battery back in December 2018. Civic was a little over 2 years old. I did get a message the battery was weak.
I replace the battery again when I got this problem.

Could there have been any other device that emits RFI (cell phone, maybe) close to the fob or between the fob and the receiver (wherever that is)?

Maybe just try placing the fob in a different location and see if it happens again?

Good luck.

Still have problem after changing battery in FOB.
Gave my wife my FOB and she has had no problems.
I now have her FOB and this morning I got the error with the FOB in my hand. Touch FOB near start button and it started
Turn engine off and tried it again and worked fine. Any advice? Thanks Paul

I know you said you changed the battery already, but do you have another battery that you could try? Another thing to look for on the inside of the fob, are the little prongs that are around the battery. When changing a battery on my son's fob for his Civic, the new battery did the same thing. We stopped by the dealer really quick, and the service advisor popped it open and tweaked the prongs slightly, and that cured it completely.

Sheesh. Do you have any surgical rods, pins, or screws in your hand? Do you wear any rings on that hand? Bracelets, watches, etc? Do you take an iron supplement?

I'm just thinking out loud. And I'm as puzzled as you are.

I hope you get it sorted out.

At this point i would just take it to the dealer and have them try to find out what's wrong with it, that's if it is still under warranty.

Still under warranty but dealer told me there is a diagnostic fee if they cannot find a problem. My warranty end in August of this year.

Did you open the fob up, and try tweaking the little metal prongs around the battery as I suggested? The symptoms you describe sound exactly as what my son's fob was doing.

I took the battery out and with a small screwdriver played with the four fingers for the plus side of battery.
Let you know if this helps resolve the problem.
The problem is intermittent. Happen every 15 to 25 days,

What resolved the problem was replacing my new battery from Amazon with a new NAME Brand battery like Energizer. Try it. Paul
