I've showed them my video, but they still have to witness it first hand as that's how they prefer it. Definitely let us know how it works out for you. Glad you called AH and that you're bringing your car in.
Yeah, I will definitely keep this thread alive so that people know our pain.

Seem like if the engine does not completely cool off, then the noise would appear. Most of the VTC problem on the CR-V thread that I read is related to low ambient temp. Right now in my place it's around 68F so it is not extremely cold like some of those CR-V owners.
Well you're lucky it's 68 degrees there. It was 109 according to my car's temp reading when I left work. Yeah, I think it is related with the engine temperature being hot.

I went out after my 8 hour shift and decided to remote start my car. And I got the grinding noise. I dont know if how hot it is out has anything to do with it but it's 90 degrees and the car said 103 inside.
Me too, when mine did it the most was when the temps outside were over 93-100

Mine's at the dealer now. I called to see how tests were going, and they're being as thorough as they can to try it at different temps and rest cycles. I honestly think they wanna find it and report it to HMC, as they are selling a lot of 'bad kids' that might eventually come back home. Glad they're being proactive and transparent on the matter.

Should have an update for everyone tomorrow.

I apologize to everyone in this thread first off, I've been saying it doesn't do it on a cold start. I WAS WRONG.

I went to get into my car today to go home after work. Car had been sitting for 9hrs, I got the grind.. Not a severe grind, but it definitely was there.

Outside temps were very warm, 26c (85ish?) but it still should have been a true cold start for that long of time.

I will be filming first thing in the morning and again tomorrow afternoon to see if I can get the cold start grind on video. Again, I am sorry to everyone, it can happen on a cold start, my bad.

@NorthernEX-T I had it happen one time where I heard the grinding noise during a morning start. It was very short and quick, but nonetheless, it was there. I'm starting to think that eventually this will also be a morning occurrence. Last nite, I heard the grind after more than 4 hours of rest/cooling off. Ugh!

I read that just before I posted. It's definitely not getting any better as time goes on, I feel like mine has got a lot worse over the past 2 weeks. Does it 95% of the time now between 30mins - 4 or more hours! Yikes! Between this and my screen flickering every morning, paint quality being subpar, I am starting to loose some faith in this car.. :(

Yeah, it sucks, but I know they can at least fix the screen on your audio unit. Get that replaced if you need to. Now pray tell what is going on with your paint?

Chips and scratches way to easily. It's like it's half as thick as it should be..

So I take it u have a lot paint chips?
Ya like 3 on my hood, which is understandable. But I have 2 scratches that are un explainable, I never park near anyone and my car gets babied (wash it almost everyday lol) at the diy wash, never an automatic car wash. No idea how they got there.

Oh ya and 3 months ago I must have had a stone fly up on my door and took 2 huge chunks of paint out. Not impressed.

Water spots are also "baked" into the paint, gonna try and use vinegar to get them out..

Annnnd, bug splatters are getting etched into my front bumper which others are noticing as well.. :nono:

Seem like the car know I'm gonna watch for the noise. Heard once this morning (not too loud), and been quiet ever since. I did something different - letting the car idle for 30s to 1min before turning it off. At least I still have the video proof for dealer visit tomorrow.

Today:
- Start the car cold at 9AM, no noise. Go to places, and each stop is around 30-45 mins, no noise.
- Went back home at 12:30PM, let the car stay outside for an hour, then start the car to go to work - noise appear but really low in volume, but I did feel it.
- Got to work at 2, 45 mins later left work to mail stuff (2:45PM) - no noise
- Back to work, and let the car sit in the shade and start the car at 6:30PM - super quiet and no noise.

So I'm baffle at why this noise appear on someday, yet hiding in another day.

this is interesting. My car has also been quieter at start yesterday and today. It crossed my mind that the last two days it has not been as hot here. Today was like 85.

Mike, good theory on the idle after you park it, but this is a normal part of my driving style or whatever you want to call it. I know people on this forum say it's not needed, but, I like to let my turbo cool down by idling for at least 30 seconds every time. If I'm really hard on it, I'll let it idle up too 5mins. May be overkill but I don't care. Doesn't hurt it that's for sure. The amount of heat this little motor throws off is crazy, someone said its like a mini oven in there! But that's what happens with having so much plastic and insulating shit in there, it gets HOT! :flame:
