So I know Hondata is a Tuning company for the ECU but I wonder if they would be able to add the Brake Pad Maintenance mode to retract the rear caliper for our Type R's instead of taking it all apart with tools and running into the chance of ruining the caliper. I would even be willing to pay a little extra for that feature but I wonder if that's something they would even consider adding since that feature would be for maintenance and they're just for tuning.
Thanks

that's what I did, but apparently people are saying that manually turning it back in will cause issues for the ebrake mechanism

Correct I've heard some people have ruined their calipers doing it and its around $200-300 to replace and with maintenance mode it retracts the caliper for you.

By using a break caliper piston top and pressing the piston back. It apparently damages the e-brake assembly.

There is a safe manual method that involves removing the e-brake motor and turning the shaft to retract the piston.

I didn't mess mine up. I jacked the car up, released the ebrake, used a tool to rotate the piston back (regarding the rear of course). No issues at all and ebrake was worked fine since. Not sure why some have had issues...

I purchased this and tried to go to the brake maint mode and it wont connect is that a specific way to do it

Hondata would be able to answer this question better. But if they don't, myself and a lot of other people just used this. Plug it in, put rears in maintenance mode, compress the piston back the rest of the way (very little) install pads and remove from maintenance mode. Very cheap.

Hmm I did it the way the instructions stated. Did you download the Honda software onto it when it asks? After that I was able to go through the files and click on it, and you can hear the calipers retracting immediately.
