Who here has had a GenX Si for a short time, but has either traded or thinking of trading it in?

Guys, I'm still thinking about this.
Still owe about $15K on the car, as I put a big chunk down, and I bought an extended warranty.
I wonder if I actually made a mistake by putting so much down?
Anyway, I'm thinking of going the CUV route, or even 4-Runner (bad gas mileage, but supposedly indestructible).
I'm thinking about getting back into outdoorsy type stuff like fishing, hunting, camping, etc.

same here. Almost traded for a Passport tonight but dealer pissed me off. Will likely still do it here soon as I’ve about had it with this torture chair they call a seat. Looked at the 4Runner but think they are WAY overpriced and VERY old. It badly needs a major redesign but they do have a solid reputation. But like you trying to get back to the outdoors. No 4x4 stuff. Just maybe off the beaten path a little and a small and light camper.

Anyway, you should be able to get a pro-rated refund on the warranty based on time since you bought it and your current mileage. The dealer you buy the new car from can handle all of it for you most of the time and even roll your refund into the deal. Also, if financed, money down isn’t necessarily bad as your payoff is less.

If you are looking to buy a Passport, I would look at the used market. Pick one up about 4 or 5 years old. A coworker of mine has one with over 200k on it and it still runs great. It's never given him any mechanical issues. Let someone else depreciate it for you

You might be confusing the Passport with the Pilot. The passport is new this year. It is essentially a Pilot with its rear end cut off and no 3rd row seat. There are some used ones but they are discounting the new ones so much a used one doesn’t save much here.

Those new Passports are nice especially in the Elite trim, but they are around $43K.

Yeah, I really like em but am looking at the ExL trim. I wanted AWD but the price difference has me debating. I drove it last night and oh my god my back and butt instantly felt so much better. Rides VERY nice too even with the 20” wheels. Pretty quiet but not like a Toyota. So nice to be able to actually see ahead of you than looking at peoples bumpers and lift gates. I can sleep in the back no prob if needed for weekend trips to the mountains. I did feel like I was going to tip over going around curves though..lol

I would still also look at the Pilot (got it right this time!). You can pick up one with pretty low mileage. These are extremely reliable even past 100K

Absolutely don't go bare-bone on Honda people haulers (7 or more seats), mid to upper trims highly recommended as you'll be racking up miles after miles on these. Or save another $10k by getting a used Odyssey if you don't mind driving in a mini-van :)

Have known a few people with pilots and they are nice. Just too big and don’t need that 3rd Row seat. And not a soccer dad. The Passport has a little more ground clearance, sportier suspension, steering, throttle response, and just a a sportier look. Under floor storage in the rear that is just awesome instead of that 3rd row. ExL has sunroof, heated leather seats, the sensing package, remote start, all LED lights but for the highs I believe, driver side memory, dual pwr seats. It’s not the base model. only thing the top Elite has that I would really like is the cooled seats. I’m not committed yet though. I love the Si and it’s my 3rd one. I wish I could have both. Soon as I decide on black or silver and AWD or FWD she’s gone.

There is my wife and I, my 19 year old daughter and 15 year old son, we have an 8 seater Sienna and the extra room always comes in handy! Anyway, you have to get what makes you happy. Good luck!

I'm basically counting on driving my 17 Si for 3 more years as all I need to do is reg fluid changes along with tire rotation and maybe a new set of tires at 40K. Therefore, I expect to be selling my Si w/approx 70K around this time in 2022.
honestly, if my Si met disaster today I'd look around for a 2016 Scion iM w/manual for around 13K. My spending limit on cars is 15K.
