Wow I never know that it was tied to the USB cable. I have a USB iPhone cable and USB stick permanently connected. The phone is mostly not connected. The warning message never goes away for me. After a few seconds a screen saver kicks in but the warning is still there. I have to press ok to get the the rest of the radio controls. I must try unplugging my usb cables.

I still think its more dangerous having me route for an ok button so I can see my radio screen. (I know - I don't have patience to do it before I start driving).
Which warning message are you talking about? Iā€™m referring to the ā€˜no USB device connectedā€™ message in my post about it being tied to the USB cable.

Btw, I donā€™t get that message anymore. It used to come up when I started the car without having my phone connected (after having it connected during the previous drive). I recently got a new phone but I think I stopped getting the message even before I upgraded my phone.

So it turns out the USB has no impact. The warning never goes away unless I click ok. Maybe its a European setting. Its very annoying.

ah ok, I thought it was the safety warning that comes up when you first start the car.

I owned a few Garmin GPS, they all come with this disclaimer. Difference is they do not go away until the ā€œOKā€ button is clicked.

I sell stereo gear; every single manufacturer does it. We are lucky - most of them don't let the warning go away by itself and you have to agree manually in order to do anything. Only Kenwood has recently added a "Go away after 10 seconds" option just this past year.

My salesman managed to turn it off using the display screen. But then neither one of us could remember how to after I had the audio unit replaced and the message came back.
