Even try 5th or 6th to 2nd obviously not going fast but it will make the synchros work harder to slow down to mesh the gear. I heard grinding in the video. This is bad like I said before when anyone wants to get a group of guys together an head to a dealership an call the local news.. I am all in this is bullshit.. 3 years now an they cant get this trans right

I’d stop testing it and recreating the grind for sure.

You need to push for a buyback or car swap. There’s no way I would let them tear apart the transmission on my brand new one day old car.

I also wouldn’t want them to replace it, because it’s going to have a permanent Carfax ding and reduced value.

Serious bummer.

PS: I read crap like this before purchase and was a little apprehensive.

I went in to drive it, and they were like we don’t allow Type R test drives.

So I acted amicable, I worked a deal and completed the paperwork before final signature, and told him there’s no way I’m taking the car home unless I get to drive it with them in the car to make sure the transmission is OK. They agreed, tranny was fine, and I took it home that night.

I’m so sorry you’re having this problem. Hopefully since you’re an employee, they’ll escalate this one up the food chain more quickly.

Question: is this a 2019 or leftover 2018?

They don't allow type r testdrives? That's weird usually if you have an approval letter they let you drive whatever..ford did that when I want to test drive a mustang gt track pack soo they didn't make that sale that day

I might try for a buy back or a trade for those exact reasons!

They don't allow test drives because people don't want this car with 30-40 miles on them. Also the are rarer than a mustang so keeping Miles off them is important, and keeping kids from showing up and beating the crap out of it.

Check if you have a 24 hour return period in your state. Some states have this j think. Otherwise you’ll have to go through either lemon law or hope your dealer is nice.

I bought it in Illinois and live in Wisconsin. I assume I have to deal with Illinois on this lemon law type thing?
First talk to your dealer. Really try and negotiate to have them buy the car back if you want to get out of the deal.

Me personally since my car isn’t my daily, I intend to keep it so fixing it is a no brainer. I was about to buy another S2000 and completely gut it to the frame so that I could drive it another 10 years without worry. So you see where I’m coming from.

But maybe this is your daily. Maybe for whatever million reasons you don’t want them to fix it. In this case really try hard (and be nice) to have them take the car back. I say be nice cause they’re not under any obligation to do so.

Otherwise your next recourse of action is to threaten to go through the lemon law route. You do this from the get-go with a lawyer. You want to use this as a threat because the transmission is clearly broken, AND you do not want any extreme wait times. In general they have three tries, one year, and only 30 days to get it right.

Before actually heading to court, you must go through arbitration, but do this with a lemon lawyer. Arbitration is a phase, it does not dictate how or with whom you arrive with. And almost all of the time it can be done with the lawyers taking care of it all.

9/10 times, a lemon lawyer will negotiate better terms for you. They will negotiate with the other party to get their fee, your car’s worth pro rated, plus additional monies to shut you up (including a NDA). Every time it was only my time which I paid, I always made out better. The community may not like that but you gota look out for your family.

I have gone this route a few times (I’ve had a lot of cars). I can’t say who, but one time - twice back to back with a manufacturer.

first thing first, drain the transmission fluid and fill it up with brand new Honda MTF, it could be underfilled or bad fluid from factory. Honda fluid is kind of thin so if you want to go with something a bit thicker, try Amsoil. If none of this helps then definitely need to check more components or need a new transmission.

Agree with acurately... drain fluid an measure it. The fluid there dumping in these is not the same as the Oem Honda mtl we get here in the US. I still have my factory fill fluid in bottles in my garage it came out like black beat up engine oil.. there was brass in it just a little in the bottom of the drain pan normal amount very fine specks of it.. but it was a little low on what Honda says goes in it not by much.. I would definitely change it with Oem Honda mtl if you wanna try a few things before you take it back or whatever you plan to do... longer you wait an more miles you but on the worse... I was one of the biggest critics an asshole about this last year when I bought my 2018 an I had every right I had die hards coming at me from every direction on this forum but I didn’t care we paid good money... I paid cash which is besides the point it’s just ridiculous that after 3 years we are still dealing with the same shit.. I feel for you bro your a lot calmer than I was lmao

My plan is to have the car looked at by our techs! Do an MTF change, then go from there. If this doesn't fix the issue I will see if Honda will fix the car. I also plan on talking to my salesman at the dealer I bought it at.
