Yea I’m having that same problem, just started today. Going to ride it out and see if it goes away, if not it’s back to the dealer yet again!
It's normal for Brembos. If ppl notice, it usually happens when you're in neutral and foot is off the clutch and you're breaking around 5 mph. Mine happens intermittently but not a big deal. There is nothing wrong with the breaks.

You can have a rock get stuck btwn the pad and rotor or dustshield and rotor like me which would make a constant screeching noise. Same with the dust shield bent like the previous guys above.

If it's only when you press the pads then yes I agree with you but let's not be quick to judge with the amount of limited information that the guy gave us. Either way, you can just remove the wheels and inspect it.

Well, a constant screech is alot different than 1 -2 screeches in 3000 miles, which is what I've experienced.

I've only driven my car out 5 times or so and have around 100 miles on it... I get light screeching coasting to a stoplight stop, slow braking in a parking garage... or similar. :dunno:

So before I had a chance to take my car to the dealer all the sounds and screeching stopped (minus the Brembos from the cold weather) so that’s positive.

I've seen this more than once and would like to clarify things for those that may not fully understand the issue at hand. While it is likely already understood by many, this has nothing to do with the Brembo calipers and all to do with the brake pads Honda has been included, which may or may not be made by Brembo. The more aggressive the brake pad, the more noise and brake dust you can count on. The pads Honda include with the R are great for spirited driving and likely autocross use, maybe even light track duty. If your car does not see such conditions and the noisy and/or dusty pads bother you, you may want to consider a less aggressive pad at some point.

Hi guys,

I recently experienced a problem with my CTR's brakes screeching extremely loud while going in reverse or while the front wheels were fully rotated one direction. The sound was quiet when it first started happening, as if I was running over an aluminum can. Over the course of the week it got progressively louder, to the point where I took the car into the dealer for them to check it out.

The tech (who was extremely nice and helpful) said he noticed right away that "the cover that sits directly behind the front brake rotor had been deformed." He said he didn't see any scuff or scratch marks indicating that it may have been hit by something, so he assumed it may have just bent from extreme heat.

I haven't taken the CTR to the track or driven it hard, but I do live in Orlando, and it is still fairly hot for this time of year, getting to 93-96 deg. on an average day.

As a fix, all he did was take a pair of pliers and bend the cover back in place. Simple enough, but I'm skeptical it will solve the issue permanently. I've had this issue with both front brake sets.

I wasn't sure if any other Civics were experiencing this problem, but for those who were, I wanted to document my experience. This may be related to the issue found here (http://www.civicx.com/threads/loud-metal-screeching-sound.3100/)

Thanks,

Tyler

Ugh yes that is the dreaded screech. I have had this around 5-6 times (at least) in the (8) months I’ve owned the car. Took it to the dealer 3 times. It’s brake dust or rocks like they said.

Have had it where its audible when:

1. Reversing
2. Driving at idle speed or lower
3. Any speed while turning (one direction only)
4. Driving all the time. Terrible, way louder than what’s posted in the clip.

Considering picking up an ez car lift or some other stand that makes it convenient to raise the car to remove the wheels and thoroughly clean myself as seems like a regular occurrence.. last time I took car to dealer, noticed they put (2) miles on my car :(

Last time it occurred, used a pressure washer to try to clean the brake dust/dislodge rocks. Have read a stick sometimes works also.

Yeah it is so annoying and embarrassing cause the car has a CAI and a magnaflow so it supposed to sound nice and this shit just ruins it

Hondata valet tune with throttle maps as low as possible and limit the speed to 20. Have fun with -100 ft/lbs. I'd absolutely flip my shit if someone took my car on the road with the hopes of going on a quick joyride. I took my Si to get tires and I'm sitting in the waiting room and hear that all familiar k20 scream and then bouncing off the Rev limited and see my car fly by. I don't want to take my car to get something done unless absolutely necessary, I'll do everything myself if I can.
You can see everywhere your car has been on a map each day, with date and time I forget what menu its under. But I'd take that and use it against them.
On topic my front driver's side has been doing this a lot lately. I took the wheel off this weekend and had a look. Nothing looked bent or stuck, though I forgot to turn the wheel all the way to get a better look. It's quite annoying. It won't do it when I first start driving, but once everything is nice and heated up it sounds like my car is broke lol

I've had at least 4 rocks stuck between the rotor & shield since I bought the car in Jan '18. 1 on the left, 3 on the right.

Most of them I've had luck just pressing on the shield to let the rock drop out. The last one I had was terrible, and was resting near the caliper. It popped out before I got home when I planned to pull the wheel off and address it.

Thankfully, they don't seem to be doing any damage. It's just REALLY ANNOYING, and I need to think of a good rigged tool to address this in the future, rather than my last resort being to pull the wheel. Anyone come up with something?

I did end up taking the plunge and getting an ezcarlift. Won’t be taking my car in for anything unless it’s major. Btw, have had no further rock/dust issues since have been spraying the brakes really good with a pressure washer each time I wash the car (every week).

Wrap a thin rope around the inside and floss it?
