My first oil change was around 9,000 miles. I was at 15% yet so I could have put on my miles. One thing I noticed is that the engine is more quite now. As compared to before the oil change the engine was more growly like it was struggling more. I don't think I will be putting on that many miles between changes again. Think I will shoot for max 6k and rotate the tires same time.

No, you are incorrect. Typically Honda has either "A" or "B" services and the difference is that the oil filter technically only needs to be changed on the "B" services. Crazy on our Pilot especially since they switched to a super-cheap Fram made filter. Cabin and Air filters are usually only needed to be changed every 30,000 miles.

Nope, filter every other oil change. Confirmed by honda.

Also the filter capacity is .3 of quarts.

We change the filter every time at our dealership, your already down there so why skimp out?
Is your dealership using the A01 or A02 filter? I'm going to start stocking up on the A01 filters since the dealerships around my area use A02.

I change the oil and filter every 5000 miles using synthetic 0W-20.
The break-in oil was changed at 2,000 miles.
Engines will last a long time with good maintenance and oil/filters changes are cheap insurance.

Why?? Do you have any evidence that the break-in oil should be replaced prior to when the engineers who designed it think it should be replaced? Same thing for the regular interval? Properly designed engines DO last a long time even when the maintenance cycle isn't perfect. I'm not even aware of engine problems that have occurred when someone has followed the maintenance schedule that was due to oil failure. Besides, there's so many other things to worry about failing on a vehicle, engines are the least of your concern.

The turbo models run hotter and intercooler from heated exhaust. I am personally doing 7500 mile changes of both synthetic oil and filter.

3,000 miles on my coupe and I'm at 70% so I'll wait. It's weird though. I've always had it changed every 3K with other cars.

I bought the car in April 2016 now I'm at 6700 before I hit that mileage the A1 pop up and the still show my oil life at 40% and find out A for oil change 1 is for tire rotation and B is for oil and oil filter change so now I'm only change the oil and tire rotation and leave the oil filter a lone until the B pop up .....so the oil life percentage show is look like useless if you go by that you should change oil and filter at 10000 miles

I mentioned that to dealer svc manager and he said, "you dont put clean oil in a dirty filter."
I agree with him. Yeah, you can change the filter every other oil change, but why? A filter is only a few bucks, and right next to the drain plug on these cars. I wouldn't put dirty underwear back on after a shower, but I bet there are some people who do that too.
