OEM Size Winter tire?

I'm thinking of using the OEM tire size for Sport Hatch Blizzak winter tires (235/18). Is this a terrible idea? I know that people recommend a thinner tire, but does anyone have experience with the OEM size winter tires?

You'll be fine. 235 winter tires are better than 205 all-seasons when the going gets sh*tty.

I switched to 16" steel wheels for durability and extra sidewall cushioning in the winter, and I got 215-width tires to go on them. But if I had to stick with the stock 18s for winter, yeah, I'd keep using the 235/40 size.
