I’m assuming this is only an issue with WOT?

Light acceleration even at the lower rpm ranges of the higher gears is presumably ok?

Ofcourse you can do light acceleration at lower rpm in higher gear. If the car doesn't respond well to your acceleration you're doing something wrong, and most likely it means you need to choose a lower gear. I normally cruise around in 5th or 6th at 40mph/60km/h.

Also it does not make sense to WOT in 6th gear at 40mph (that is like 1600-1700RPM), what is the fun in that?

In the video he talks about how they cannot prevent lspci by pulling timing. I don't know much about the topic, just repeating what was said.

It's a waste to floor it in high gears at low RPM. Hard on the engine, hard on fuel with little gains compared to being in the correct gear.
